The State Cup is designed to determine who has the best girls U-10 team in NY.

The State Cup is a single elimination tournament that begins in September and ends on Fathers' Day. If you keep winning, you keep on playing.

Many teams get a bye in the first round. After that, the games are played on the scheduled date. The designated home team sets a time based on field availability and then the two coaches agree.

In about a month, two large grids are formed (North and South). In the fall, we would only play teams in the South (LI and NYC). In the spring, the quarterfinals begin to match teams from the North (Upstate) against the South.

Massapequa teams have done very well in the State Cup over the years. Two years ago, we had five finalists out of six age groups in the girls' U-10 (winner) through U-16 age groups, and three were state champs.

This year, we had three finalists and two state champs.

Three years ago, the Massapequa U-11 A team and the Massapequa U-11 B team played each other in the finals, and the B team won.

Hope that helps.
